All-in.

I made myself comfortable in the seat. Look around at the others around the table, a collection of all sorts.

I placed my chips in front of me, $1500 worth. Enough to last a while, considering the small blind was only $12.50.

The hand was dealt. I looked at the faces around the table, trying to get a hint of how everyone fared.

I got nothing.

My hand was a King and a Queen, red and black. Not too shabby for a first hand, plenty of potential.

Bidding started.

Moderate bids were made. The first of $25, followed by a raise to $50.

The girl to my right raised.

To $1200.

That was unexpected.

I looked at her. She was wearing a horrid purple hat, with dark glasses hiding her eyes.

Ok, I thought. My hand has some potential. Shes probably bluffing.

“Call.” I placed my chips in the game.

Two others called, teh rest folded but one, who raised to $1600.

I didn’t even have that much!

Still, I wasn’t going to fold now and forfeit that previous $1200 without even seeing the flop.

“All-in.”

My first round, all of my chips locked in the game.

The dealer turned the flop.

Oh crap. 4h, 8c, 10d.

The rest is a blur.

Everyone had to check, only waiting for for the turn and the river.

Suddenly, it was all over. I looked at the cards before me, and those in my hand.

I had nothing.

Hands were presented. The girl had three tens, two in the pocket and the third on the table.

“Fold” I whispered.

The dealer looked at me.

“Would you like to re-buy, sir?”

“N-no, thank you”

I stood up. I had been seated an entire 5 minutes, and in that time, managed to lighten myself of $1500.

I still couldn’t believe it.

A few of them watched me leave. I thought I saw a look of triumph in the girl’s eye, her stack of chips over double what it had been.

Left with not even enough for a consolatory scotch, I left as quickly as possible, overcome with loss and embarassment.

Luckily, it was only an online game with play money, but still!

Cornerstore’s having a texas holdem night on Thursday. Not sure which Thursday though… You should go… Give them a call or send an email it looked like fun, and not too serious.

Hrmmm maybe. Jordan and I had a couple of hands tonight. I ended up losing, but was winning for most of the time.

We were watching Celebrity PartyPoker and suddenly wanted to play ;)

Maybe next week I’ll go to that poker night, drag Jordan along.

    Looking forward to Friday :D

Hey Ben, long time no see. Great story, I absolutely love surprise endings. Now if only you’d gotten the girl …

If he had I would have had to shoot him, and that’s always a real pain in the arse to clean up.
