Coffee: Fuel for life

Nothing like starting a morning with a coffee. Gives you that kick needed to actually face the day…

Althought, I’ve realised that my addiction has gotten to the point where Coffee just balances me out, gets me back to normal so that I don’t spend the day in withdrawl, with headaches, lack of attention, and irritability.

Still, absolutely wonderful brew.

Anyway, came across ‘Kopi Luwak’ this morning, supposedly the most expensive coffee in the world, weighing in at $160 a pound.

What makes it so special?

It’s grown naturally in Indonesia, where the beans are selected not by workers, but the Asian Palm Civet, who sniffs out the tasted coffee cherries and eats them.

It digests the outer fleshy part of the berry, and excretes the bean, where it’s collected from the jungle floor. Apparently, the digestive process sweetens the taste of the bean.

As you can imagine, such a delicate process means that very little is produced each year, probably causing the price to artificially inflate. It costs, apparently $50 Australian a cup at the sole cafe in Aus to sell it.

I would probably try it, if I got the chance. You know, just to say I had.

Despite the disconcerting fact that it’s coffee made from shit.
